The Next Stage...
Just a short post today to keep everyone updated after a short hiatus! We are sadly now in our final hours in İzmir, and will be setting off tomorrow. Although we feel like we have spent a decent amount of time here, it is still going to be very hard to leave everyone.
Last week was the Bayram / Eid holiday in Turkey, so we went to the summer house in Akbük. We spent a lovely week relaxing, seeing family and visiting neighbours. The weather was insanely hot (we saw 39 C one day, eurgh), but this prompted Oli and I to get up early most days, and go for morning swim. It was worth getting up for; the water was calmer than the proverbial mill-pond and almost felt silky as we swam through it.
Once the weather cooled slightly in the evenings, we went for slow wanders along the seafront to watch the sunsets. Apologies for all the photos... but who doesn't love a good sunset?
As an added bonus, my Iran visa approval code came through earlier than expected. All being well, I should now be able to pick up the visa itself from Trabzon once we get that far. Here's hoping we are lucky and I get the full 30 day one!
We have filled our final days in Izmir with bike maintenance, packing, and visiting people. Although it is going to feel odd leaving after so much time, we are itching to get back on the road!
